More drywall work and painting

Nothing exciting going on with the kitchen other than more drywall work.  The guy (Balla) is working today (Saturday) and then one more day on Monday with the final sanding and then painting on Tuesday before they start cabinet installation on Wednesday.  In the meantime Chris needed a project to do so he wanted to "freshen" up the paint in the office.  I still liked the color but I guess after 14 years you should switch it up!

I decided to go with BM Silver Marlin on the walls and BM Wolf Gray on the accent wall behind the bookshelves.  I am also trying a new paint from BM called Advance on the bookshelves.  It is supposed to be a harder finish and is good for painting cabinets and trim.  It takes 4-6 hours to dry and you have to wait 16 hours between coats for it to cure and then sand lightly also.  It will be interesting to see how it holds up and if it works I may try it on the old kitchen cabinets now in the basement.

Old Color
New Color - night time picture!

Works well with color in entryway but I may have to change this up too as it all has to be repainted!
Wall Color during the day next to new color behind bookshelves
One more coat needed on dark gray but I like it so far!

Floors are done, almost and cabinets delivered!

Edi's Flooring finished the floors on Tuesday and they turned out good.  They only did 2 out of the 3 top coats of varnish so they are not quite complete.  What this means is that we are "blessed" to continue living in the basement/2nd floor for awhile yet as we won't be moving furniture back for awhile.  Once they finish installing the cabinets and other things in the kitchen we will put the third coat on the entire first floor and then we have to wait for seven days after to put the furniture back.

Here are a few pictures of the floor.  I like how the color turned out and they actually look darker during the day than the pictures as I had all the can lights on and there is a glare off the floor.

This morning Amish Custom Kitchens delivered the cabinets!  From what I can see so far they appear to have done an awesome job on the cabinets.  I inspected the cabinets and they did a really nice job with all the details.  Both the painted finish and stained finish is really, really nice.  It is going to take some time to get used to self-closing doors and drawers!  I just love the walnut drawers and shelves -- so pretty!!

Upper cabinets but upside down :)

Painted base cabinet/stained base for island

Looks good next to newly stained floor

A room full of cabinets with a few in the garage!
The remodeling crew (one guy) from Perrity Construction is back today to finish all the drywall work so they are sanding and mudding.  I am hoping they will finish tomorrow so we can prime and paint the walls this weekend as they are installing the cabinets on Tuesday.
